Get Off Your Ass!

Looking over my blog posts, it’s kind of sad how much television I’ve been watching. I’m studying in Denmark and only have a little bit of time left to live it up, not to mention I need to drastically catch up in my studies.  One aspect of living in Denmark that differs from home is that I’m not living my normal lifestyle. I’ve been going out to bars more often, as it seems that is the culture over here. I’ll be honest, I don’t mind going out and interacting with the gorgeous Danish women. It really puts physical beauty into perspective.

Anyways, while my social life has been good, my physical workouts have been lacking. Yes, I briefly played on the college varsity basketball team, but I had to quit that due to not being able to commit enough weekends to the program. I’ve also played soccer with some Europeans, and lets just say I was happy to be about the 6th best player (out of 10) on the field. Pretty good talent over here. Two summers ago I worked out five days a week and loaded up on Protein (my personal choice is AtLargeNutrition, tastes great) and added somewhere between 10-15 pounds of lean body mass without any noticeable increase in fat. It was great. My clothes fit a little tighter, and my friends noticed the difference. It’s nice to be complimented on you physical features.

But, as I got back to school last Fall, I didn’t keep up with the workout regimen and wasn’t eating a good diet either. As a result, I think that I have lost pretty much all of the muscle mass I gained. It’s depressing, considering the work I did to gain it, but at the same time I know I can get back to that weight (around 195 pounds @ 6′1″ height) if I stay disciplined.

Right now I’m in Denmark, and between traveling, not having access to a gym, and not eating very healthy (what can I say, I am by no means the cook of the family), I can’t do much to get started. I guess the physical improvement will have to be part of my New Years resolution.

But while I can’t get off my ass to workout, I still can be social. So that’s what I’m off to do. As soon as I publish this, I’m going to go and get my dry laundry and get ready to go out to the bar at my university – yes, they turn the hallways of the university into a bar/club on the weekends. It’s probably something I wouldn’t have done a year ago, but then again I think my social development is probably what I’ve developed most in the last year of my life. Wish me luck in meeting some cute Danish girls :)
