Oregon for National Championship

I am at a crossroads. I’ll explain. I am a proud member of Beaver Nation. In fact, I have friends and former fraternity brothers on both the OSU Basketball and Football teams. The other OSU, The Ohio State University, just lost in football and will surely drop from it’s #1 national ranking. This means that the top teams, including LSU, Oregon, Kansas and Oklahoma will all move up a notch. Which means for the time being, assuming that strength of schedule remains fairly intact, that the University of Oregon could be headed to the national championship game.

Now, I like to see the Pac-10 represented well on a national stage, and even further I like to see my home state represented as well. Thus, I want to see Oregon in the national championship game. When I was three, my father was the head of the Military Science and ROTC program at University of Oregon, where he was an alumni, and as a result I used to shout “Go Ducks!”. That is, of course, until I went to OSU on a full ride for engineering, only later to switch to business (where ironically UO is a better program).

Anyways, in any other circumstance, I want Oregon to win. Dammit, I do want them to win. Just like I wanted to see them get as far as possible in the last NCAA basketball tournament. If this means the Beavers have to lose…I guess that’s okay. It only holds the tradition of “home team wins the Civil War” for another year. If Oregon can make it to the big game, then I would be ecstatic to see it happen. Oregon State may still be able to make a bowl game regardless, which I would be content with.

The SEC is great. And the Pac-10 is almost as good. It would be a shame if our conference wasn’t represented in this event. I may not be as cutthroat of a fan as some of my friends (who root against Oregon regardless of the circumstance), but that’s okay. Keep it up Oregon and I hope to see you bring home another national championship to our great state (in addition to the Beaver’s baseball championship, of course).

Fantasy Advice Column!

Hey everyone, so my first-ever fantasy basketball advice column is up at the Fantasy Basketblog website, and it’s entitled “Tweaking With Trades”. FBB is a site that I’ve followed for the last couple of years, and have contributed comments on consistently. They asked if I would like to do a weekly column, and I accepted as I figured it would be a good way to break into blogging and fantasy advice without being responsible for running out own site and being entirely responsible for the content. Maybe I’ll eventually move onto a bigger site and, heck, maybe even make money as a blogger. I’m mirroring my posts over at my own fantasy basketball blog, Crash The Boards.

Anyways, if you’re into fantasy basketball, check out the sites. I’ve only played for a couple of years, but it comes very naturally to me, as it works with my natural comfort to numbers and statistics. Every league that I’ve played in, I have been able to win, so I hope that I can provide some insight and advice to help you do the same.
